An "Application to Accelerate" is the process in the Oklahoma criminal justice system in which the prosecution ask the sentencing judge to accelerate the "deferred sentence" of a defendant, to a conviction and/or send the defendant to jail or prison. A "deferred" sentence is a sentence of probation that is not a conviction, with a deferred sentence the defendant enters a plea, the judge excepts a plea, but does not find the defendant guilty. If the defendant completes the probation the defendant will never be convicted.
