A blind plea is a plea before a judge without any restriction, other than the statutory maximum, on the punishment. This type of plea is typically entered when the defense nd the state can not come to an agreement on the proper punishment.

A blind plea should be entered into very rarely and your lawyer better have a good idea what the judge's tendencies are.

Entering a no contest plea without an agreement on punishment (known as a "blind plea") is generally a bad idea, because the defendant is both leaving his punishment completely in the hands of the judge and refusing to admit that they had done anything wrong.

A defendant who enters a blind plea and does not like the sentence is often stuck with that sentence.
